Thriller

Thriller is a British television series, originally broadcast in the UK from 1973 to 1976. It is an anthology series: each episode has a self-contained story and its own cast. As the title suggests, each story is a thriller of some variety, from tales of the supernatural to down-to-earth whodunits.

December 4, 1994 has been called the night when Stockholm's nightlife lost its innocence. At 5 o'clock in the morning, someone with an automatic weapon shoots straight into the entrance of the Sturecompagniet nightclub in central Stockholm. Four young people die and around 20 are seriously injured. The perpetrators, who were previously denied entry to the club, have come back for revenge. The story revolves around Shang Jie, the overly critical head of a crime investigation team; Xia Ying, a forensic examiner who is completely engrossed with her profession; Li Xue Kai, a detective and a good tracker; Song Mi, an innocent and ditsy analyst and Ying Ming, a second-generation rich who works as a criminal psychologist. The five form an unlikely team as they are the rejects of the department, yet through teamwork and dedication, they succeed in solving the most unusual murder cases.

David McCallum stars as the rebellious Alan Breck Stewart, and this ambitious serial (a co-production between HTV and Germany's Tele-Munchen) also features a host of British character actors, including Bill Simpson, Patrick Allen, Andrew Keir, Patrick Magee and Frank Windsor. When young David Balfour arrives at his uncle's bleak Scottish house to claim his inheritance, his relative tries to murder him then has him shipped off to be sold as a slave in the colonies. When a ship's captain tries to kill Breck for his money, the two manage to get to land and set out for Edinburgh, dodging the ruthless Redcoats along the way.
