Born on a sharecropping plantation in Northern Florida, Ray Charles went blind at seven. Inspired by a fiercely independent mom who insisted he make his own way, He found his calling and his gift behind a piano keyboard. Touring across the Southern musical circuit, the soulful singer gained a reputation and then exploded with worldwide fame when he pioneered coupling gospel and country together.

Imany began her professional life in New York as a model. The events of September 11, 2001, changed everything and forced the Frenchwoman of Comorian origin to string together a series of odd jobs. Tired of that life, a few years later Imany threw herself wholeheartedly into music. It turned out to be a wise choice for the young woman, who can now boast of having composed two albums (The Shape of a Broken Heart in 2011 and The Wrong Kind of War this year) and a film soundtrack (Sous la jupe des filles). Deeply influenced by Bob Dylan and Tracy Chapman, the singer speaks to us of love and ideals in her deep, slightly husky voice.
